The Japanese Society for Vaccinology's Takahashi Award was established by the Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University (BIKEN) to commemorate the worldwide utilization of the varicella vaccine developed by Dr. Michiaki Takahashi. Upon its establishment, the Takahashi Fund was donated to our organization by BIKEN.
The Japanese Society for Vaccinology's Takahashi Award will be awarded to those making outstanding contributions academically or practically that are in line with the purposes of our organization.

Provisions of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology Takahashi Award

The Japanese Society for Vaccinology's Takahashi Award was established by the Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University (BIKEN) to commemorate the worldwide utilization of the varicella vaccine developed by Dr. Michiaki Takahashi. Upon its establishment, the Takahashi Fund was donated to our organization by BIKEN. The Japanese Society for Vaccinology's Takahashi Prize will be awarded to those making outstanding contributions academically or practically that are in line with the purposes of our organization.

  1. The Prize shall be awarded to those making outstanding contributions in the field of fundamental studies, clinical application, product development, and epidemiological studies on vaccines, which are in line with the purposes of our organization.

  2. As a general rule, the recipient of the prize should be a member of our organization.

  3. The recipient shall be awarded with a certificate and an extra prize. The general meeting of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology shall hold the award ceremony every year and the recipient shall deliver a commemorative speech.

  4. The selection committee shall consist of 7 people, including the president and personnel from the organization approved by the board meeting. The president shall serve as the committee chairman. A decision by the selection committee shall require the approval of the board. In case the selection committee cannot determine the recipient, the opinions of the entire board members shall be sought.

  5. This prize shall be managed by the Takahashi Fund donated by the Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University.

1)This provision was approved and executed on October 15, 2005 (9th Plenary Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology).
2)On October 21, 2006 (10th Plenary Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology), part of this provision was revised and executed immediately.
3)On December 10, 2011 (15th Plenary Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology), part of this provision was revised and executed immediately.
4)On November 30, 2013 (17th Plenary Meeting of the Japanese Society for Vaccinology), part of this provision was revised and executed immediately.
